Introduction to Service

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) initiated the Energy Star program in 1992 with a desire to help consumers choose more energy-efficient electrical and electronic products, and thus to protect the environment. Products affixed with the ENERGY STAR logo shall meet the requirements for energy consumption index set by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). American consumers mainly rely on the logo to purchase the energy-saving products. Energy Star program has become one of the energy efficiency labeling systems with the widest scope of influence and the highest market acceptance in the United States.

New regulations of Energy Star

According to the ENERGY STAR program implemented in 1992, the electrical and electronic products in line with the requirements for energy consumption index announced by DOE and EPA may be voluntarily affixed with the ENERGY STAR logo after registration in EPA without the testing and confirmation by third-party testing body.

EPA and DOE jointly promulgated the latest requirements of the Energy Star program in early 2010. From January 1, 2011, manufacturers who apply for the Energy Star shall submit to EPA the certificate and test report issued by the authorized certification body and testing body to indicate the detailed test data required by the product specifications and standards.
