SASO Announces Enforcement Timeline for New Saudi Energy Efficiency Standards for Refrigerators and Freezers

On September 21, 2026, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) held a workshop on the new energy efficiency standard for refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers and freezers, SASO 2892:2025. At the workshop, SASO outlined the technical requirements of the new standard, enforcement timeline, lab registration process and energy efficiency certification, etc.

Brazil Implements Restrictions on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) in Electrical and Electronic Equipment

On July 10, 2026, the Brazilian National Environmental Council (CONAMA) published Resolution No. 516, imposing Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) on electrical and electronic equipment sold in the Brazilian market. The resolution took effect on the publication date and will be implemented in phases for different restricted substances.

Recently, the SASO, Saudi Standards Metrology and Quality Organization has released an official notice stating that the existing certification system "Jeem1" has been officially upgraded to the new "Maneh" system. Applications for Saudi Quality Mark (SQM) licenses and the SASO IECEE Recognition Certificate (SIRC) will be gradually migrated to the new "Maneh" system (https://lnkd.in/gwRG9E_3).
