Food contact materials (FCM) refer to the various materials and articles which are already in contact with food or are expected to come into contact with food, or transfer their constituents to the food under normal or foreseeable use. Examples include: packaging materials, containers, tools and equipment used for food during the production, processing, packaging, transportation, storage, sales and use, as well as inks, adhesives, lubricants and others that may come into direct or indirect contact with food; commercial/household kitchenware and utensils (e.g. kitchen electric cooking appliances), food packaging materials, food processing equipment, etc.; auxiliary materials such as binders, printing ink and colorants used in aforementioned products and materials. If unqualified food contact materials are used in the manufacture, the hazardous chemicals in these products and materials will migrate into the food and impair the human health. China, European Union, United States, Saudi Arabia and other countries and regions have issued the corresponding laws and regulations to prevent the food contact materials from harming consumers' health.
